Hutch has been both a bass and walleye tournament fisherman, having over 100 top 20 finishes over the last 30 years, and still fishes some local and national tournaments. Hutch and his partner, Larry Porter, are the current South Dakota State Governor's Cup champions, and have won the Governor's Cup for the state of Nebraska the last three years in a row.

From April through November, Hutch books fishing and hunting trips for Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe in the Pierre area, and occasionally fish in the Mobridge and Chamberlain areas, depending on customer requests.

Fishing: We fish these lakes and rivers for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, salmon and more! If you are looking for stable weather and lots of fish, June through September will be the best time to book your trip. But, if you're looking for that "big one," (and weather isn't a factor), the earlier or later months will be the best because that is when you'll be able to catch bigger than average size fish, as well as numbers.

I work with the best resorts on these lakes and will either make lodging recommendations to you or take care of the arrangements for you. Hutch runs a new boat with all new equipment every year (over $50,000 list price and pictured). I can fish up to four people in my boat. If your group is larger, I will retain other experienced guides that I frequently partner with for the same rates. They will have similar equipment and fishing abilities. Make sure to book in advance, when possible, so I can arrange for the best guides and accommodations.

Hunting: I book trips for hunting pheasant, grouse, geese and ducks. My waterfowl hunting schedule depends on goose/duck movements and the weather. I also offer combination trips which include both fishing and hunting. I have over 20,000 acres of private land available for you to hunt. In order for my hunts to remain personalized, I only hunt groups of ten or smaller at a time. If you have a bigger group, I will work with other guides. You may bring your own dogs (kennels available) or hunt with ours. It is best to call or e-mail me so I can book the accommodations to best suit your needs. Be sure to book your hunting trips in advance, as we stay busy, especially early in the season. I normally hunt wild birds, but preserve hunting is available from September through March for combination fishing and pheasant hunting trips. I can handle everything for your trip or help you get what you need. We will discuss limits, license information and all the other particulars at the time you book your trip.
